101 Allergy Friendly School Snacks From Your Local Grocery Store

You’ve found it!  Your source for store-bought gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and egg free snack ideas to send to school with your kiddos!

The younger kids are, the more often they need to eat and the harder it is to keep food out of the classroom where 79% of food allergy reactions at school take place.  Preschool and kindergarten age kids also touch their faces and mouths with their hands a lot, making it more likely for traces of food proteins to become ingested.  Since it isn’t always practical to keep these food proteins out of the learning environment, some schools are adopting policies that only allow snacks free of the top 8 food allergens in the classroom.

It’s one thing to eliminate nuts and peanuts, but then take out all milk, wheat, eggs, and soy and you might feel like the only options you have to send to school with your child are fresh fruits and vegetables… and we all know how kids are about eating all that healthy stuff when mom’s not watching!

But did you know that store-bought top 8 free snacks actually aren’t as hard to find as you might think?  Just to convince you, we’ve created a pinboard full of top 8 free snack ideas, most of which are conveniently found at your local grocery store and easy to send to school with your child.

Remember to double-check the labels on all products you purchase since recipes and manufacturing procedures can change at any time and follow up with the manufacturers if you are concerned about cross contact.
